3 Habits That Will Change Your Life

Changing your lifestyle isn’t easy for anyone, but the biggest challenge is really just the shift in perspective required to move forward. Today, I want to share 3 habits that will change the way you live.

Moving forward in a positive way can, and will, be difficult, uncomfortable, and very challenging. If you’re feeling challenged and uncomfortable, you can think of this as a positive, because it means you are getting ready for something magnificent: a new day, a better life, a more focused you.

That brings me to the first habit that will change the way you live:

FOCUS

You need to truly know what it is that you want – not the career you want, the material possessions you want, or even the relationships you want – Instead, you need to focus on the intangible. Focus on the continual improvement of your most valued characteristics. Stop looking at your decisions as simply “good” and “bad,” and instead ask yourself: Is this choice getting me closer to my goals?

Instead of right and wrong, think of every option as a forking path, and think Which route will lead to a healthier version of myself and my life?

This means you need to put forth the effort to FOCUS on both your goals and your current state. Being in touch with yourself, physically, mentally, and spiritually, positions you to better attack your goals.

The power of positive thinking is a very real concept – approach each day, task, and challenge with a mentality of success and gratitude.

Like any new habit, deciding to engage focus and positive thinking on a daily basis can be challenging at first, but the payoff is invaluable. The key is to be gracious and patient with yourself, and appreciate every small step you take.

DISCIPLINE

Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Discomfort spurs change – it forces you to develop, grow, and change for the good. Constant safety brews stagnancy. If you’re never challenged, never uncomfortable, then you’ll look back on this time 5 years ago and realize you’re in the same place. Adjusting to discomfort and proactively seeking to grow requires discipline.

This leads me to the second habit that will change the way you live: Discipline is what will keep you going. When motivation wears off, self-discipline makes you step up. There will be many days when committing to development is hard. There will be days of sluggishness and days where all you hear is No and that simple, terrible phrase comes to mind: I can’t do it.

That’s when DISCIPLINE comes into play. You will create a monster of success inside yourself with discipline telling you every day to stay focused on your goals and daily improvements.

SELF-BELIEF

It doesn’t matter what others may think or say about you or the way you are living, it only matters what you say and think about the life you are living. It is solely up to you to decide your present and future state – and to do that you must believe in yourself.

This brings me to the third and most important habit that will change the way you live, and that is to BELIEVE in you.

You must have unwavering belief in yourself and what you are trying to accomplish. Every day you must go to war with the person in the mirror, because that is the only person who can take you off your path. Every day, take some time to look within and practice affirmations of your skills, talents, interest, and potential. There is a place for being realistic, but when it comes to accomplishing goals, you have to have complete confidence in your abilities. Look at your goals and believe wholeheartedly that they are already achieved. Know that you are only in the process of getting there logistically.

With constant focus, discipline, and self-belief, you can become the creator of your present self and the maker of your future.
